2018 – Last meeting and Kids, Kids, Kids

Last meeting

Recently, we had our last meeting before our trip, going over logistics for the trip (May 19-26). This is a new location, and a new organization for us, so it’s a whole new venture for all of us. We also appreciate the effort of our out-of-town team members (Chris H, Denise and Paul) have been making to stay up to date, including watching videos of our meetings.

Kids’ Church

The next day, Patrick led the team in a teaching for Kids’ church, a special service for the younger part of our church family. We participated in singing/worship and the kids prayed for us at the end.

Children’s Message

This weekend, we participated in the Children’s Message portion of our church. Nate took the information from our support letter and made a simple way for the kids to remember to pray for us, turning each of our prayer requests into a way to prayer for us.

2017 OKC Kids’ Church

Kids’ Church

Virginia taught about what we’ll be doing in OKC, and how the kids could partner with us and pray for us.

Auntie” Sunday A., the main teacher, did things a little differently this year. She wanted the kids to remember our names, so they could pray for us while we’re gone. That
meant that each team member would have a word associated with their
name and do a hand motion. We weren’t prepared. It was pretty hilarious, and exhausting. One of the team values is “be flexible,” I guess it starts now.

After the intro, the kids prayed for us. It’s always a sweet time. Pam said that one year, one of the kids prayed that the sharks wouldn’t be a problem for us in OKC. As far as we know, the prayer came true.

Children’s Message

At Evergreen, part of our service specifically addresses the kids.

Our team got the opportunity to share today. Roz led the time, and asked some questions of the kids, and of the team too.

Immediately after the Children’s message, we went to the Kids’ Church room, where some of the younger kids in our church have their own special service.

2015 Children’s Message/Kid’s Church

A week before heading to OKC, we participated in two time honored traditions at our home church, Evergreen.

Frequently, missions teams will present something during the kids’ portion of our service. This year, Lorin ran our program both at the general service, and also the kids’ church.

After doing the lesson, the kids gathered around and pray for the team members.

2013 Kids Church

Evergreen’s a multi-generational church. We’ve got newborns to their grandparents.

We like to include everyone in all aspects of our church. You’ll see octogenarians volunteering a kids’ events, teenagers helping young adults, and in this case, an exchange of blessings between our team and some of the young ones of our church.

Shirley, assisted by Heang, Jeff and Steve, taught a simple lesson to some of our kids, asking them to remember to pray for us.

In turn, the kids took the time to pray for us. It’s always a powerful and humbling thing.

Thanks to (not in our photos) team member Chris for taking pics!
